Youth Program - Class of 2020 (Program dates will be updated on December 1, 2019.)

Leadership Center for Excellence (LCE) invites you to apply for the Youth Program Class of 2020!

Please learn about the Youth Program, including its required time and financial commitment, before applying.

Once applied, applicants will be notified of acceptance status 2-3 weeks after their application is received. 

The class size is limited to roughly 40 participants.

All applications will be due by Friday, May 29th by 5:00 pm EST.




The program will include a one-week experiential course during which participants will explore leadership concepts, practice new skills, and be matched with mentors to explore leadership in action throughout the community.
Participant mentor relationship will include a job shadowing experience at a mutually agreed upon time, a Volunteer Arlington-sponsored class volunteer service experience and a Mentor Leadership Lunch and Learn, all which will take place on Arlington Public School early release days.
Program participants will graduate in the spring of 2021 with other LCE Signature Leadership Programs (Leadership Arlington, Ignite Young Professional Program and the DMV Diversity & Inclusion Program) cohorts, joining an alumni body dedicated to making leadership growth a lifelong journey.

Each application will be judged on its own merits. Applicants will be selected on the basis of their:

  • Demonstration of leadership skills in either a traditional or non-traditional setting.
  • Participation in community or family service activities.
  • Communication skills.
  • Recommendation from an adult reference.



Tuition for the Leadership Arlington Youth Program is $500. Limited scholarships are available whereas the need is adequately demonstrated (see below). LCE accepts checks, VISA, MasterCard and American Express.



Leadership Center for Excellence encourages all qualified candidates to apply to the Youth Program regardless of financial status. A limited number of scholarships are available. Candidates interested in applying for financial assistance should submit a one-page "Scholarship Request Form" with the amount requested and rationale behind the request. Requests MUST be submitted with your application via email to Derek R.
